MTH Studio Updates

I broke yet another promise to myself- that I would stay consistent with my blog. It's been on my mind, but whenever I had the time I would sit down and not have the first clue what to write about. To be honest, I'm terrible with this social media thing, & I've been struggling to find the balance between keeping up with social media, without being consumed by it & still being present in the company of my loved ones.

Also, it's been a struggle fighting the dreaded algorithms & I sort of just feel defeated at the moment. So I think the best way for me to use this blog to my advantage is to make it my hub for my original pieces that need forever homes until I'm able to get a website off the ground. 

I will make posts for each painting available with all of its information & detail photos.

So if there's a painting that's caught your mind & you'd like to know more about size, pricing, shipping or inspiration - you'll now be able to find it all in one spot on my blog!

I'm also working on some "step by step" paintings for my Sips with Hicks paint class & anyone else interested in trying their hand at painting.  I'm hoping to have step by step progress photos & instructions for those paintings so that my students can be more prepared for the class or if they have to miss a painting that they really wanted to learn to paint. 

I'll also try to give more details about the inspiration & emotions behind each piece. That part is also a little difficult for me because I paint so intuitively. There's some artists out there who will probably cringe when I say this-  but for most of my paintings I jump in with no plan at all. My mood picks out the colors & then I use mark making & intuition to lead the rest. If I get stuck I do studies & go about it with a problem solving state of mind until it feels & looks right.

My commissions & paint party paintings are of course planned & sometimes painted several times, however my original paintings are painted from imagination. If I'm painting animals in detail, I will use a collage of reference photos to make sure my imagination doesn't get away from me & to be able to see how things relate to each other in size. I use my reference photos to understand what I'm painting, not to copy them.  

Thank you so much for all of your endless support & to each & everyone of you for rooting me on while I take this leap of Faith. I'd like to take this chance to thank my wonderful Mom for her endless support- rooting me on & always making sure I have plenty of art supplies in my arsenal! She herself is quite the artist, so I'm also thankful for the creator genes! She's always been there for me & I couldn't do this without her & my amazing man, Kristian. I love you both to the moon & back.
